Why generate barcodes here?

Generating barcodes for real products means getting the format and check digits exactly right — an invalid EAN/UPC simply won't scan at a register. This tool validates input against each format's rules as you type and renders the barcode client-side, so you can iterate quickly without uploading product data anywhere.

Formats and customization

Formats and customization

  • Retail formats: EAN-13, EAN-8, and UPC for retail product barcodes
  • General-purpose formats: CODE128, ITF-14, MSI, and Pharmacode for logistics and internal use
  • Visual customization: Adjust bar color, background, margins, and human-readable text display

How to Use

  1. Enter the barcode content
  2. Select the desired barcode format
  3. Customize colors and dimensions
  4. Download the barcode as a PNG image

💡 Pro Tips

  • For retail products, use EAN-13 or UPC with the exact number assigned to that product — these formats include a check digit, so arbitrary numbers won't scan correctly at checkout.
  • CODE128 accepts any alphanumeric text and is a good default for internal tracking codes that don't need to match a retail standard.

Glossary

CODE128
A high-density barcode format that can encode any ASCII character, commonly used for shipping and internal tracking.
EAN / UPC
Retail product barcode standards (European Article Number / Universal Product Code) that encode a manufacturer and product number plus a check digit.
Check Digit
A final digit calculated from the rest of a barcode's numbers, used to detect scanning or entry errors — this is why not every number sequence produces a valid EAN/UPC barcode.
Quiet Zone
The blank margin required on either side of a barcode for scanners to reliably detect where the code starts and ends.
